Position Summary:

Primary Position Duties:

  • Weekly Analyzes maintenance information and recommends fleet and equipment utilization and replacement.
  • Weekly Tracks fleet usage and maintains accurate inventories of equipment
  • Weekly Ensure the maintenance records for all fleet and utility equipment assets are accurate and up to date
  • Assists in the procurement processes for required inventory
  • Assesses risk and safety issues to ensure safe and efficient repairs to fleet and utility equipment assets and recommends to operational leadership.
  • Assists in ensuring the company follows D.O.T. laws and regulations.
  • Assist the Organization in scheduling regular vehicle and equipment maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Assists in creating a formal written process for the management of assets that includes fiscal responsibilities, accountability for lost and stolen assets, proper allocation of cost and ensuring that all company assets are tracked.
  • Partner with Operational Leadership to ensure that inventory is available to meet the market demand
  • Quarterly Visit locations in coordination with operational leadership to meet organizational needs and to ensure that vehicle and asset inspections are performed correctly to ensure proper care of company property.
  • Ensure vehicle and asset status is current with the organization’s operational needs and provide recommendations to Operational Leadership.
  • Assist in managing vendors to obtain fleet and asset readiness in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure all warranty funds are received, and recall work is completed and processed.
  • In coordination with Operational Leadership, develop a team of maintenance personnel, mechanics, technicians, and support staff (multiple states/locations).
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with vehicle and facility maintenance requirements, regulations, and laws (DOT, EPA, FMCSA, and OSHA). Inform the Senior Director of EHS, Fleet, Facilities & Risk Management of all noncompliance.
  • Lead the recommendations in the purchase of asset/fleet needs and specifications.
  • Assist in performing fleet and equipment evaluations of possible acquisitions.
  • Perform periodic audits of fleet and equipment vendors to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining the quality of parts and repairs. Report results to operational leadership.
  • Perform and assist with additional responsibilities and projects to ensure operational readiness.

Position Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Logistics/Mechanical Engineering or Transportation preferred, not required
  • 3-5 years experience working with utility equipment, fleet management, mechanical maintenance, preventative maintenance, and contract management in a multi-state/multi-location environment.
  • Ability to prioritize objectives in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Thorough knowledge of fleet maintenance platforms, principles, practices, tools, equipment, and materials for vehicle and equipment maintenance and fleet management.
  • Obtain and maintain certifications in alignment with business needs and operational objectives.
  • Leadership and development of direct reports from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Basic working mechanical knowledge
  • Hours: Normally, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Nights, weekends, and holidays may be required based on organizational needs.

Working Conditions:

The duties and responsibilities of this position are in an office setting. However, based on organizational needs (locations, work sites, or client locations), 45% travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in the field walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and twist push, pull, lift, and/or carry moderate amounts of weights operate assigned equipment and vehicles. Operating office equipment requires repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, including using a computer keyboard. Travel to other locations.
