Safety is a priority at National OnDemand. We have comprehensive Safety Guidelines, Procedures, and Protocols that enable us to Produce Superior Service Safely. Our specific guidelines, procedures, and protocols adhere to the standards of the appropriate Federal, State and Municipal regulations and standards relevant to industry standards of fiber construction and installation.
We assign Regional Safety Advisors to specific geographic areas to ensure a safety resource is available to our operational teams. When necessary, a dedicated safety resource can be assigned to a specific project to ensure we can Produce Superior Service Safely.
The local Regional Safety Advisors report directly to the Corporate Director of EHS & Risk at our corporate headquarters, ensuring a direct line of communication to senior leadership.
All employees receive interactive safety training using the information contained in our Safety Guidelines, Procedures, and Protocols. National OnDemand’s extensive individual Safety Plans, Job Hazard Analysis / Job Safety Analysis, on-site weekly safety meetings, on-the-job training, online courses, and formal instruction ensure a safe workforce. In addition, our Safety Advisors maintain additional safety certifications that ensure our teams have a knowledgeable safety resource.
Qualified Electric Worker (QEW) Certification
The QEW training introduces new electrical safety techniques for situations above 50 volts. This course equips team members with many skills to have a better level of safety awareness, allowing them to troubleshoot issues and determine the safest course of action for situations in the field. It also enables our employees to have a better understanding of electrical safety specifically.
A few things that are covered:
- Discerning a live (charged) element
- Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Identifying electrical hazards that may be dangerous
- Ability to use insulated tools when working in or near charged environments
- Minimum safe approach distance
