Position Summary:

National OnDemand, Inc. is a communications and utilities infrastructure provider delivering service solutions to the Fiber, Wireless, Energy and Technology sectors in the United States. Headquartered in Burlington, North Carolina, the Company provides full turnkey infrastructure solutions – on demand, anywhere across its service footprint and has secured and sustained its current standing in the market through the successful completion of mergers and acquisitions, along with demonstrable, steady organic growth.

The High Split Project Field Technician will provide coax splicing and module swap outs on HFC distribution systems. Responsibilities will include forward and return balancing using test equipment, level documentation as well as performing other related duties. The ideal candidate must be Dependable, Experienced, Knowledgeable, and able to safely work in COAX Splicing-High Split experience desired.

Primary Position Duties:

Technical skill set to in upgrading a HFC network while eliminating unnecessary network down time that impacts customer experience.
Must possess the ability to use basic cable test equipment.
Understand design prints and splice schematics.
Proficient knowledge on balancing and verifying signal on outside plant (aerial/underground) coaxial devices (amplifiers, taps, splitters, etc.) and replacing/repairing hardware when necessary.
Ensure timely responsiveness on upgrade issues to include troubleshooting and restoration of services when needed.
Calculate system signal losses and make necessary adjustments to resolve issues.
Install in-line devices on network to include amplifiers, line extenders, splitters, and taps.
Swap amplifier modules. Ability to splice overhead and underground coaxial cable.
Troubleshoot and repair existing coax lines and line equipment.
Maintain records and documents in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Know, understand, and follow company policy.
Maintain a safe and secure work environment by complying with Government standards and legal regulations.
Understand and follow OSHA safety requirements to complete the job(s) safely and efficiently.
Requires night and or day work to include travel as needed.
Perform other duties as requested by the project supervisor.

Position Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
Ability to use all types of manual and powered handheld tools, such as drills, hammers, wrenches, and screwdrivers.
Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment within the maximum weight limitations of that equipment (such as aerial lift, safety harness, gaffs, and ladders.
Ability to carry, climb, and operate an extension ladder. (approx. 32 feet high and 90 pounds)
Ability to perform jobs from high places.

Education or Skills:

High school diploma or its equivalent.
1-3 years’ experience as a Coax Splicer is preferred, however will train the right candidate.
1-3 years’ experience in a HFC Sweep/Technician role is preferred, however will train the right candidate.
Proficiency with HFC network maintenance is preferred, however will train the right candidate.
Proficient in telecommunications installation/service.
