Culture Corner: It’s a Team Event

We’ve all complained at one time or another about something at work, whether it’s the people, the processes or even the atmosphere.

What isn’t automatic in those frustrations is ownership, which begs the question – who is responsible for making a happy workplace? Company culture doesn’t automatically happen and it’s not the responsibility of one or two people, great culture is a TEAM event and requires team effort.

Culture Corner: It's a Team Event

Company culture is the sum of all that you and your colleagues think, say, and do as you work together each day. From the CEO and tenured leadership team to brand new employees, it is everyone’s responsibility to create a positive energy.

The sign of a healthy company culture is when employees feel welcome walking in the door, they are engaged, committed, and excited to come to work.

Of course, no workplace is perfect, but we can learn a lot from organizations that are thriving. Leadership in those organizations listen to their employees and make changes when needed, they value and appreciate team members.

The workers within the organization are also responsible for being good teammates, helping new employees and being positive coworkers. When employees feel valued and appreciated and are happy in their role, a good company culture starts to develop, which in turn helps everyone become more motivated.
