Fourth of July Holiday Safety
This weekend, we celebrate our nation’s Independence Day. While we hope that our National OnDemand family takes some time to enjoy the holiday, we also want you to remain safe. Below are some tips from our safety team to keep your celebrations safe and worry-free.
Fireworks Safety
Fireworks can result in severe burns, blindness, scars and, in extreme cases, death. We recommend attending a community firework display run by professionals to avoid injury at home. Remember:
- All fireworks pose a risk—even ones considered to be safe. For example, sparklers can reach temperatures above 1000°F and can burn users and bystanders.
- Alcohol and fireworks do not mix. If you drink, don’t set off fireworks.
Driving Safety
State, County, and City Police are increasing traffic enforcement before, during and after the Fourth of July. They are looking for infractions such as:
- Drunk or impaired driving
- Speeding
- Transporting open alcoholic beverages
- Passengers without seatbelts
If you plan on drinking over the holiday, please remember to stay off the roads or utilize:
- A designated driver who remains sober
- Public transportation
- Taxi service
- UBER or LYFT ride-share services
Keep these tips in mind, and your celebrations are sure to be full of happy memories.
Happy Fourth of July, National OnDemand—stay safe out there!
